Waukon Area Fire Protection District receives donation for rope rescue equipment from Waukon Feed Ranch

Waukon Feed Ranch has donated funds in the amount of $3,690 to the Waukon Area Fire Protection District for the purchase of rope rescue equipment to assist in such events as grain bin rescues. The new equipment consists of ropes, harnesses, anchors, pulleys, swivels, etc. pictured in the photo accompanying this article.

Women's Lenten Breakfast set for Thursday at Zion UCC

The Women’s Lenten Ecumenical Breakfast events are held each Thursday throughout the Lenten season at Waukon area churches. The events begin at 6:45 a.m. with breakfast, followed at 7 a.m. with a program. All women in the area are invited to attend these events taking place during the Lenten season.

Waukon Lions Club Variety Show celebrating its 25th anniversary this Saturday

The Waukon Lions Club will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Annual Variety Show this year, with this year's show scheduled to be held Saturday, April 5 at the Waukon High School Auditorium. Doors for the event open at 6 p.m., with performances beginning at 7 p.m.
Tickets are available at Farmers & Merchants Savings Bank, Waukon State Bank, Fidelity Bank, Hartig Drug, or from any Waukon Lions Club member.

Helping Services Mentoring Bowl-A-Thon reaches goal

Helping Services for Northeast Iowa is proud to announce the results of its Mentoring Bowl-a-thon held March 22 at Oneota Lanes in Decorah. Approximately 80 bowlers consisting of 22 teams participated in the event to benefit mentoring programs in Allamakee, Howard and Winneshiek counties. Bowlers consisted of youth and adults from Calmar, Clermont, Cresco, Decorah, Ossian, Ridgeway and Waukon.

"Keep Waukon Beautiful" Day has been set for May 24

The fifth annual “Keep Waukon Beautiful Day” has been scheduled for Saturday, May 24 in the Waukon area, and volunteers are being sought to help take part in the event in an effort to clean up and maintain the appearance of the community. Interested participants are asked to meet at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 24 at the front entrance of Waukon City Park.
Those participating are asked to bring with them garbage bags and work gloves. Raindate is scheduled for Saturday, May 31. Questions about the event can be answered by contacting Dr. Steve or Stefanie Perkins at 563-535-7019.

Lenten Breakfast Thursday at Zalmona; Gretchen Conway to be featured presenter at April 3 event

The Thursday, March 27 Lenten Breakfast will be hosted by Zalmona Presbyterian Church in rural Waukon. Jennifer Jones will be presenting the program on the outreach of the Midwest Mission Bible Training Center located in Cresco.

Public invited to be a part of navigating the future by attending Iowa Great River Road meeting; Nearest session is April 3 in Marquette

The Iowa Mississippi River Parkway Commission invites stakeholders along the Iowa Great River Road National Scenic Byway to attend one of six meetings in April. The Commission is appointed to steward and promote the 328-mile route, and its ten members each reside in one of the ten Iowa Mississippi River counties.
