Kee baseball splits sweeps of UIC twinbills, finishes fourth at Waukon tourney

The Kee baseball team won two of six games played this past week, recording opposite sweeps in two Upper Iowa Conference doubleheaders before finishing fourth at the annual Jeff Houg Tournament hosted by Waukon High School. The Hawks were first swept, 10-1 and 8-0, by Class 2A seventh-rated South Winneshiek Tuesday, June 23 in a home make-up game from June 11 before dealing that same fate to Turkey Valley on the road, 9-3 and 5-3, Thursday, June 25 and then coming in fourth at the Saturday, June 27 tournament with losses of 7-6 against Waukon in the opening round and 13-3 in six innings against Class 2A fourth-rated Waterloo Columbus in the consolation finals.
The baseball Hawks were scheduled to host MFL/MarMac Monday, June 29, but had that game postponed to an undetermined date as of this printing. Kee will next host Crestwood Thursday, July 2 before traveling to Edgewood-Colesburg Monday, July 6 and Wapsie Valley Tuesday, July 7 to wrap up their regular season. Kee will then open postseason tournament play Saturday, July 11 at a site and against an opponent yet to be determined.
