The Kee baseball team had its 2015 season brought to a close in the opening round of Class 1A district tournament play Tuesday, July 14, suffering a 10-2 loss to Wapsie Valley in the first half of a district tournament doubleheader played that evening in Jesup. The Hawks had just faced their Warrior opponents one week earlier, pulling out an 11-10 road victory, but could not come up with a similar offensive response and allowed a seven-run fifth inning to open up a 2-2 scoreboard knot enroute to the loss. The loss ended Kee’s season at an 11-22 overall record that includes a mark of 6-10 that placed the Hawks sixth in the final nine-team Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) standings. With the win, Wapsie Valley advanced on to face Jesup, 6-1 first-round winners over Central City. Wapsie Valley had its season ended by Jesup with a 5-1 loss in that Thursday, July 16 district semifinal match-up, with Jesup then going on to defeat Maquoketa Valley, 3-0, in the Saturday, July 18 district finals to earn a berth in the Tuesday, July 21 Substate 4 championship game against North Linn.
