Local school boards each have three seats up for election September 8

Elections for school board members in Allamakee County and across the state of Iowa will be held Tuesday, September 8. Polls in Allamakee County will be open that day from 12 noon to 8 p.m. and in-person absentee voting is available now in the Auditor’s Office at the Allamakee County Courthouse in Waukon through 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 8.
Both the Allamakee Community School District and the Eastern Allamakee Community School District have three incumbent candidates each on their respective September 8 ballot who are running unopposed for re-election this year.
Allamakee Community School District -
In the Allamakee Community School District, Thomas Baxter is on the ballot for District 2 Director, a seat he previously held from 1999 to 2008 and was appointed to in order to fill a vacancy in September of 2013. Patty Nordheim is running for re-election as District 3 Director, a seat she has held since April of 2003, and Timothy Waters is running for election as the District 4 Director after serving his first term.
Polling locations for the election for the Allamakee Community School District Board of Directors include St. Mary’s Church in Dorchester (Waterloo and Union City townships); the NICC Center in Waukon (Center, Franklin, French Creek, Hanover, Jefferson, Lansing, Ludlow, Makee and Union Prairie townships, the city of Waukon, and Frankville and Glenwood townships in Winneshiek County); Waterville City Hall (Lafayette, Linton and Paint Creek townships); and the Harpers Ferry Community Center (Fairview and Taylor townships and the city of Harpers Ferry).
Eastern Allamakee Community School District -
In the Eastern Allamakee Community School District, Bobbie Goetzinger is seeking re-election as the District 1 Director, having served in that position since 2008. Bruce Palmborg is seeking re-election as the District 2 Director, a position he has held since 2011, and Kelli Mudderman is seeking re-election as Director At-Large, having served in that position since 2014.
Polling places for the Eastern Allamakee Community School District include the New Albin Community Center (Union City and Iowa townships and the city of New Albin) and Kerndt Brothers Bank Community Center in Lansing (the city of Lansing and French Creek, Lansing, Lafayette, Taylor and Center townships).
