Waukon baseball team posts winning week with pair of non-conference victories wrapped around another Northeast Iowa Conference defeat

The Waukon baseball team posted a winning week on the field this week, winning two of three games played but remaining in search of its first Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) victory this season. The baseball Tribe opened the week with a 13-5 home triumph over Sumner-Fredericksburg Monday, June 4 before falling by a 4-0 count at Oelwein Tuesday, June 5 but bouncing back with a 6-5 victory at Turkey Valley Wednesday, June 6. A Friday, June 8 home doubleheader with Decorah was postponed by rainy weather until Tuesday, June 19.

Now holding a 4-7 overall record with a 0-4 mark in the Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC), the Indians were scheduled for six games over four consecutive nights, hosting Clayton Ridge/Central Tuesday, June 12, playing a varsity doubleheader at Crestwood Wednesday, June 13 and at Osage Thursday, June 14 before traveling to Charles City for a three-game series Friday, June 15 that will include finishing up a May 25 doubleheader started at Waukon before wrapping up that season series with a third game that night. The baseball Tribe will then host Waverly-Shell Rock Monday, June 18, make up its June 8 home varsity doubleheader with Decorah Tuesday, June 19 and host Oelwein for a varsity doubleheader Wednesday, June 20 before traveling to Decorah Friday, June 22 and then hosting its own Jeff Houg Tournament Saturday, June 23.
