The Lansing City Council held its regular meeting Monday, October 15. Discussion centered around the dike and marina contract, setting a public hearing date, purchasing benches, considering change order #4, considering payment #9 to Brennan Construction and considering appointing a council member for the vacant council seat.

A motion was made and approved to approve the dike and marina contract. There will be a public hearing at the next meeting, November 5, for the proposal to enter into a general obligation loan agreement and to borrow money there under in a principal amount not to exceed $200,000 for marina docks.

A motion was made and approved to pay Lucky Duck Custom Fabricating the amount of $2250 to make six new benches to replace the wooden benches located throughout Main Street.

The consideration of the purchase of a rubber tire excavator from Ziegler Cat will be postponed until the meeting November 5 when all council members will be present.

The City will be receiving a reimbursement from Brennan Construction for the amount of $12,000 because the contractor failed to complete the contracted project within the allotted working days provided in the contract. Payment #9 was made to Brennan Construction for the South Road Bridge project.

There are two applicants being considered to fill the council seat left vacant by the recent resignation of Stephanie Runkel. The two applicants are Jason Brink and Bruce ReVoir. The council’s decision of who will fill the vacancy will be postponed to the November 5 meeting when all council members are present.

The council would like to remind all Lansing residents that raking leaves onto the street is against City ordinance, so leaves should be taken care of by residents in other proper ways.
