Nominated for participation in AEI Youth Art Month Show ...

A pair of art students under the direction of Carlyn Lechtenberg in the Allamakee Community School District had their artwork nominated for participation in the Youth Art Month Show sponsored by the Art Educators of Iowa (AEI). The artwork was juried at the AEI Winter Council Meeting held February 2.

Pictured above is a marker drawing by Waukon Middle School sixth grader Ava Hooten entitled “Marvel Heroes: Green Lantern.” Pictured below is a monochromatic oil pastel drawing by Waukon High School freshman Kiara Ahlstrom entitled “Leonardo DiCaprio (Titanic)”.

At the February 2 judging, Hooten’s marker drawing was selected to be exhibited in the 2019 Youth Art Month Show with other pieces of student work from all across the state of Iowa. A reception for those selected artists and their work will be held Saturday, March 23 at the State Historical Building in Des Moines. Hooten is invited to bring family and friends to the event to help her celebrate her achievement with a variety of fun activities for the student artists and an awards ceremony. Her artwork will be on display at the State Historical Building throughout the month of March. Submitted images.
