Kee softball team adds sweeps of Postville and Clayton Ridge to Upper Iowa Conference win streak now extended to 66 consecutive victories

One hit from perfection ... Kee softball senior pitcher Heather Mooney winds up for a pitch in the Hawks’ home doubleheader sweep of Postville by equal scores of 12-0 in four innings each Monday, June 3. Mooney allowed just one hit in the first game of that double-dip sweep, a fourth-inning single for the only Pirate baserunner in an otherwise perfect game thrown by Mooney that included eight strike-outs. The Kee softball team played to its first undefeated week of the season, improving its Upper Iowa Conference winning streak to now 66 consecutive games with a sweep of two more league opponents this past week. Those sweeps included two 12-0 home thumpings of Postville in four mercy-rule innings each Monday, June 3 before the Lady Hawks also swept Clayton Ridge in a pair of road games Wednesday, June 5 by scores of 15-3 in five innings and 9-7. In between those two UIC twinbills Kee was supposed to also travel to Crestwood Tuesday, June 4 but had that game postponed by weather to a date yet to be rescheduled.

Improving to a 6-8 season record, 6-0 in Upper Iowa Conference play, the softball Hawks were next scheduled to play just one night of softball, Wednesday, June 12 at Turkey Valley, before playing in the West Delaware Tournament Friday and Saturday, June 14 and 15. Kee will then host another pair of UIC foes the following week, playing Central Elkader Monday, June 17 before North Fayette Valley Wednesday, June 19 and then playing in the Decorah Tournament Saturday, June 22.
