Undefeated week for Kee baseball team keeps Upper Iowa Conference record unblemished, results in St. Ansgar Tournament championship

The Kee baseball team played its way to its first undefeated week of the season, sweeping all four of its games this past week, all of them played on the road on just two different dates. The Hawks first kept their Upper Iowa Conference record unblemished with a Monday, June 3 sweep at Clayton Ridge by scores of 15-3 in six innings and 9-2. The Kee boys then traveled to St. Ansgar for a Saturday, June 8 three-team tournament, first defeating Charles City by a 4-3 result before doing likewise to the Class 1A ninth-rated host Saints by an 8-3 final result to win this year’s tournament title.

Holding an 11-2 season record that includes a now 4-0 start to the Upper Iowa Conference season, the Hawks have made their way into the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association rankings as the eighth-ranked team in Class 1A. They were next scheduled to play a pair of road doubleheaders, traveling to Class 2A seventh-rated Cascade Tuesday, June 11 before doing likewise for a road trip at South Winneshiek Thursday, June 13. Kee will then host North Fayette Valley Monday, June 17 before playing Clarke of Osceola at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo - home of the Waterloo Bucks - in a rare 10 a.m. start Wednesday, June 19 and then in the Jeff Houg Tournament hosted by Waukon Saturday, June 22.
