Arlene Welch

Arlene M. Welch, 74, of Waukon died Sunday, September 1, 2019 at her home. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 6 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon with Fr. Mark Osterhaus officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, September 5 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, where there will be a 3:30 p.m. scripture service.

Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Patrick School Hot Lunch Program for equipment or to Veterans Memorial Hospital.

Arlene Mae Welch was born March 25, 1945 in Waukon, the daughter of Harvey and Lucille (Miller) Wagner. She attended Waterville schools and graduated from Waukon High School in 1963. November 21, 1970, she married Harold Welch at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in McGregor. Arlene worked as a home health aide for Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon and took great pride in helping others.

She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and volunteered for the St. Patrick School Hot Lunch Program for several years. Arlene loved spending time with her family, especially at family gatherings and playing cards with her grandchildren. She and Harold loved camping in Little Paint Creek Campground at Yellow River State Forest. Arlene also enjoyed fishing, gambling and traveling.

Survivors include her husband, Harold, of Waukon; her children: Tina (Todd) Buchholtz of  Mondovi, WI, Tammy (Wayne) Cooper of Lansing and their children, Jalen (Jackie), Blair and Ellie Cooper, Mark (Sheila) Davis of Boscobel, WI and their children: Rae (Drew) LaGrange, Kaylea, Alyssa and Mitch Davis, Diana (Ken) Rask of Caledonia, MN and Dawn (Dave) Clark of Waukon and their children: Carter, Emily, Elliott and Caden; and a brother, Jim Wagner of Wauzeka, WI. She is preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Brooke Cooper; a brother, Harlan Wagner; a sister, Shirley (Elton) Thornton; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Wagner.
