Lansing City Council meets, discusses this weekend’s Driftless Half Marathon

The Lansing City Council met in regular session Monday, October 7. The discussion centered around the consent agenda, citizen actions and a report from the City’s Parks and Recreation Board.

The consent agenda consisted of council meeting minutes from September 30, payment of claims, Marina Board meeting minutes from September 30, Parks and Recreation Board minutes from August 20 and September 17, Library Board minutes from August 20, liquor licenses for Coffee on the River and Red Barn Resort and Campground, Treasurer’s report for August, and utility receipts report for August. A motion was made and seconded to approve the consent agenda.

A variance request for caged chickens at 659 Wall Street was approved by the council.

Discussion took place regarding the Driftless Half Marathon scheduled for this Saturday, October 12. The half marathon will start at 7:30 a.m. near Harpers Ferry and travel the Great River Road before ending in Lansing by noon. An associated 5K race will also be taking place throughout the streets of Lansing this Saturday morning, scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
