Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 9 at St. Mary’s Hanover Catholic Church in rural Waukon with Fr. John Moser officiating and burial in the church cemetery. Jeanette A. McCormick was born December 11, 1936 to John C. and Ella (Connor) Schulte of Dorchester. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dorchester and attended country school in the Dorchester area. Jeanette was united in marriage to John Joe McCormick September 19, 1957 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Dorchester.

They farmed in the Hanover/Dorchester area all their married life. She had a strong faith in the Lord, and she was a member of St. Mary’s Hanover Catholic Church.

Jeanette was an active farm wife and good steward of the land; growing beautiful vegetable and flower gardens. She was well known for her canned produce and baked goods - especially her delicious chocolate chip cookies.

In addition to her work on the farm, she also did painting with her brother, John B. Schulte, and his wife, Mary. Jeanette enjoyed spending time with family, working in her garden, baking, playing bingo in Spring Grove, MN and going to the boat with her brother, Lloyd, and his wife, Ruth Anne.

She was a loving mother and grandmother; family was the most important thing to her. She will be greatly missed by those that loved her. Jeanette was a beautiful person - both inside and out.

Jeanette is survived by her children: Bob, Ron (Lori), Judy and Jean (Dave); and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Andrea (Eddie), Julian, Jalen, Jacob, Nick, Trent (Jayne), Gabe, Grant, Genevieve, Griffin, Miranda (Dustin), Brody, Adley, Morgan, Zoey and Bailey. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law: Jean Schulte, Ruth Anne Schulte, Rita Schulte and Marlene (Tom) Dorn; and her brother-in-law, Jim (Karen) McCormick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Joe, in 2004; her son, Tom, in 1987; two sisters, Margaret Tierney-Wiltgen and Angela Regan; and five brothers, John B., Cletus, Norbert, Greg and Lloyd.
Jeanette’s family will serve as casketbearers.
