Dwight Bacon

Dwight David Bacon, 69, of Decorah passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 17 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville with Rev. Lynn Noel as the officiant. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Postville Cemetery, Postville.

A Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Friday, February 16 at St. Paul Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Postville. There will also be a one-hour visitation before services at the church Saturday.

Dwight was born August 5, 1954 to Allan Lloyd and Beverly Jean (Nelson) Bacon in Postville. He was baptized and confirmed at the Luana Methodist Church. Dwight graduated from Postville High School with the class of 1972 and proudly joined the United States Navy. He served from 1972 to 1975.

September 1, 1973, Dwight married Barbara Rekow, and two daughters were born to this union. They later divorced. Throughout the years Dwight worked in Farm Supply Management at Postville Farmers Co-op and Waukon Feed Ranch for 40-plus years and Malcom Enterprises as a Sanitation Engineer in Decorah. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, the AmVets in Monona and the American Legion in Postville. June 10, 1994, Dwight was united in marriage with Lisa Marie Loftsgard.

Surviving Dwight is his wife, Lisa Bacon of Decorah; his daughters, Staci (Ross) Malcom of Postville and Stephani (Arturo) Ortiz of Postville; six grandchildren, Collin (special friend, Kayden Schulte) Malcom, Victoria (special friend, Brandon Gulrud) Ortiz, Nora Malcom, Alfredo Ortiz, Evan Ortiz and Sorrell Ortiz; his mother, Beverly Bacon of Postville; his siblings, Jenny (John) Harvill of Round Rock, TX and Jerry (Sandy) Bacon of Cedar Rapids; his sister-in-law, Sandy Bacon of Postville; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jane and Craig Rood of Elgin, Bradley Loftsgard of Decorah, Mary and Steve Follett of Mayer, MN, and Sara and Shane Bell of Hiawatha; many special nieces and nephews; and a special aunt and uncle, Ralph and Linda Bacon of Postville.

Dwight was preceded in death by his father, Allan Bacon; his brother, Danny “Sam” Bacon; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orven and Sylvia Loftsgard; and his brother-in-law, Joe Lechtenberg.
