Karen Weber

Karen D. Weber, 64, of New Albin died Sunday, February 11, 2024, at her home. Funeral services were held Friday, February 16 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Albin with Fr. Joseph Sevcik officiating.

Karen Diane Weber was born February 26, 1959, in Waukon, the daughter of Thomas and Jean (Phillips) O’Hare. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Hanover Catholic Church in rural Waukon. Karen attended Waukon schools, later receiving her GED from NICC in Calmar.

September 4, 1976, she married Randy Weber at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon. They farmed with his parents and later on their own in the Gruber Ridge area, rural Lansing, milking cows and raising crops.

Through Karen’s education and training from St. Mary’s in Winona, MN, and the Archdiocese of Dubuque, she was appointed by the Archbishop as a pastoral associate for the Wexford, Harpers Ferry, New Albin, and Lansing Catholic churches. From 1993 to 2005, she was the director of religious education; from 2005 to 2012, was the faith formation leader and pastoral assistant; and from 2012 to 2017, Karen was the pastoral associate.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing and a member at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church after they moved to New Albin. Karen was also a member of the New Albin Improvement League. She loved to decorate her home as well as helping many friends and family redo their homes. Her passion in life was to help others and she loved animals, especially the family dog, Mattador, and her cats. Karen loved her grandson Damon and attending his sporting activities throughout the years.

Survivors include her husband, Randy, of New Albin; her two sons, Jeremy (Jolene Reeves) Weber of Greeley, CO and Jason Weber of Tomah, WI; a grandson, Damon Weber of Lansing; her siblings: Michael (Virginia) O’Hare of Lansing, Barb (Mike) DePuew of Las Vegas, NV, Pat (Ron) Jones of Alton, IL, Bob (Sally) O’Hare of Waverly, Rick O’Hare of Village of Four Seasons, MO, Marsha (Mike) Allen of Holmen, WI, Deb Winke of Waukon, Greg (Tracy) O’Hare of Maryland Heights, MO, Kris (Mark) Platte of Des Moines and Scott (Pam) O’Hare of West Union; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister-in-law, Nancy O’Hare.

Honorary casketbearers were Karen’s sisters. Casketbearers were Mike, Bob, Rick, Greg and Scott O’Hare, and Mark Platte.
