The 2024 Allamakee County Dairy Banquet is scheduled to be held this Saturday, March 23 at the Allamakee County Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon. Food service will start at 7 p.m. and the program will begin at 8 p.m. Banquet tickets can be purchased at the door.

The annual celebration recognizes the importance of the dairy industry in Allamakee County and the contributions dairy families make to this important industry. Every year, top producers from the county are recognized at the banquet. In addition, several other awards are presented that evening, some of which include the following:
• Outstanding Young Dairy Family Award
• Pioneer Dairyman
• Distinguished Dairy Family Award
• Service to Dairy Industry Award
• Golden Butter Knife Award.

Also a highlight of the evening's festivities, the 2024 Allamakee County Dairy Princess will be crowned. Just one Allamakee County young lady, Mallory Mohn of Lansing, is seeking this year’s Allamakee County Dairy Princess crown.

Mallory is the 18-year-old daughter of Clint and Noelle Mohn of Lansing. Mallory is currently a senior at Kee High School in Lansing where she participates in FFA, National Honor Society, student council, Quill and Scroll, volleyball, basketball and track.

Throughout her high school career, she has received the honors of being the Lansing FFA Chapter Reporter and Vice President, while also being the co-president of the National Honor Society. Mallory has also received the award of All-Conference Honorable Mention for her recent volleyball and basketball seasons, First and Second Team awards for track, and academic awards throughout high school.

Outside of school, Mallory has also held the titles of Allamakee County Beef Queen and Allamakee County Fair Princess. With these titles, Mallory has had the opportunity to assist and lead different community events such as the school’s blood drive, FFA week, the County Fair, Allamakee County Cattlemen grill-outs, National Honor Society winter clothing drive, and various bake sales through the school.

Mallory is employed at Manning Dairy farm located in rural Lansing. Manning Dairy is a 97% Holstein dairy operation that milks 175 cows twice a day in a double-eight parallel parlor. The farm is owned by Raymond Manning and operated by both Raymond and his son, Matthew Manning. Manning Dairy raises all its own replacements while also managing dairy and cross-bred steers. Mallory’s responsibilities on the farm include feeding calves, milking cows, assisting Matt in breeding decisions, and any other duties necessary.

When her schedule is open, Mallory enjoys running, reading, and working with her beef steers alongside her four siblings, Mason, Morgan, Marshal, and Marah. After Mallory graduates high school, she plans to attend Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) to complete her general education requirements. Upon completion, Mallory plans to transfer to Iowa State University while majoring in Genetics and minoring in Entrepreneurship.

While she is studying at NICC, Mallory plans to obtain her EMT certification and private pilot’s license. One other career path that sparks her interest is becoming a pilot for Medlink. Mallory’s sponsor is Manning Dairy.
