Dr. Steve Perkins to speak at Men's Lenten Supper

A Men's Ecumenical Lenten Supper will be held Sunday, March 28 at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and a presentation will take place at 7 p.m. featuring Dr. Steven Perkins as speaker. A meal will follow.
All men in the community from all denominations are invited to attend the Men's Ecumenical Lenten Supper.

Dr. Perkins was born and raised in Oskaloosa, a town of 11,000 in southeast Iowa. Growing up he was active in sports and was an All-State football player and captain of his high school football team which won the 3-A State Football Championship.
He graduated as Valedictorian of his class in 1997 and went on to Central College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Biology and Chemistry while also being an All-American on the football team and a team captain. He then went on to Des Moines University for medical school and, after graduating in 2005, he completed his residency training in Family Medicine at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines.
Dr. Perkins is Board-Certified with the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Sports Medicine, American Osteopathic Association, and the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians. He holds an Adjunct Clinical Faculty position at Des Moines University where he lectures and serves as a clinical instructor for its students.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Perkins is involved with the Youth Sports Foundation, Knights of Columbus, local athletic teams, the church, and numerous volunteer organizations. Dr. Perkins and his wife Stefanie, a native of Waukon, have three boys, Jackson (5), Caleb (3), and Zachariah (2) who keep them very busy at home.
