New ACCF endowment from Perkins family will support education and healthcare

An endowment fund to benefit education and healthcare has been established by Dr. Steven and Stefanie Perkins with the Allamakee County Community Foundation (ACCF).
ACCF Foundation Coordinator Betty Steege announced the establishment of the donor advised endowment at the ACCF Awards Reception celebration April 22. The endowment has been invested and its future annual distributions will be directed by the Perkins family to support education and healthcare needs in Allamakee County forever.
“Had it not been for scholarships, Dr. Perkins said he would not be a doctor today,” said Steege. “Dr. Steven and Stefanie Perkins have both been scholarship recipients. This couple loves Allamakee County, believes in the future of this area and in hometown philanthropy.”
In addition to their generous contribution, the Perkins family will also be awarded a Seeds for Success grant offered by the ACCF. Seeds for Success provides a $2,500 grant to new family, non-profit or corporate endowment gifts of $7,500 or more. Once an endowment reaches the $10,000 milestone or greater, there is an annual pay-out of five percent to help support charitable causes every year, forever.
Gifts to donor-advised funds are eligible for the Endow Iowa 25% State Tax Credit. This tax credit is in addition to the federal deduction for charitable gifts. Endow Iowa is an incentive for individual donors, families and businesses to create or build endowments to give back to their community. The increased charitable impact per dollar gifted is another reason endowments are growing in Allamakee County.
The new endowment joins a growing list of 23 funds held by the foundation for the betterment of Allamakee County, including the Saint Patrick School Endowment, Kee High Dollars for Scholars, the TASC Endowment and many more.
