Robey Memorial Library is local drop-off point for "Coats for Kids" drive

For years, KCRG-TV9’s Coats for Kids program has helped thousands of families stay warm during the cold winter season. With the current challenging economic times, the need for donating coats is greater now than ever before.
Local residents can help families in need by simply cleaning out their closets, and this year those coats can now be dropped off at Robey Memorial Library in Waukon through September 30. Coats in sizes infant through adult are donated at locations throughout eastern Iowa, collected and cleaned, and then distributed to the children who need them in the same county of donation by family service organizations and volunteers. In addition to coats, KCRG-TV9 is collecting hats, gloves, scarves and other warm winter items.
"The library is proud to take part in this drive to help families in need this winter," said Rick Meyer, Director of Robey Memorial Library.
Any family in need is encouraged to come and select, free of charge, the warm winter items of their choice. All selections are on a first-come, first-served basis. Locations across eastern Iowa have been selected as distribution sites. The selected sites will be placed on KCRG-TV9’s website by September 15. All locations are open to the public.
KCRG-TV9 has also issued a challenge to all elementary schools in eastern Iowa. Each elementary school has been encouraged to host a coat drive. For further information, visit kcrg.com/care/coatsforkids website.
