Second annual Fields of Faith event scheduled for October 9 in Waukon

Students, parents and community members are invited to join thousands of others on athletic fields all across the nation Wednesday, October 9 to share their Christian faith with each other during the eighth annual national Fields of Faith event. Although in existence nationwide for several years, the local Fields of Faith event in Waukon is being held for just its second year that same evening at the Waukon High School football field after a successful inaugural event last year that drew more than 400 local people.
The local event will consist of testimonial speaking from scheduled student and adult participants, along with music and socializing. A new addition to this year's celebration will be the performance of the Christian band "513FREE" at 6:30 p.m. and again after the event, with the Fields of Faith program beginning at 7 p.m.
Featured speakers this year will include Randy and Melissa Hartz of Sioux Falls, SD. They are the parents of three young sons and have delivered their message of faith at other Fields of Faith events throughout the Midwest. Four other high school- to college-aged youth from the area will also be speaking.
Members of the public are invited to bring their own blankets to spread out on the football field and participate. Lawn chairs are also welcome for those unable to sit on blankets. In the event of inclement weather, the program will be held in the Waukon High School gym.
Fields of Faith is structured as a student-to-student ministry. Peers invite their own classmates and teammates to hear fellow students share their testimonies, challenge them to read the Bible and to come to faith in Jesus Christ.
