Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation receives funds through America's Farmers Grow Communities

Harpers Ferry farmer Phillip Dehli has directed a $2,500 donation to the Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation through the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program. The donation will help the Foundation purchase defibrillators for Allamakee County law enforcement vehicles and the emergency department at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.
“Approximately one year ago we provided Community Cardiac Arrest Specialty Team devices to emergency vehicles, which improved our survival rate to 75%, compared to the national average of 25%,” said Nancy Schoh, President of the Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation.
America’s Farmers Grow Communities works directly with farmers to support nonprofit organizations like the Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation, who are doing important work in their communities. The program offers farmers the chance to win $2,500, which is then donated to the farmer’s non-profit organization of choice. The search for funding to sustain and enhance programs is a year-round job for non-profit organizations across the country. Through America’s Farmers Grow Communities, farmers have been able to support a variety of groups, such as schools, fire departments, community centers and youth organizations like 4-H and FFA.
America’s Farmers Grow Communities launched in 2010, and has since donated over $13 million to more than 5,200 non-profit organizations across the country. America’s Farmers Grow Communities, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, is part of the America’s Farmers initiative, which highlights and celebrates the important contributions farmers like Philip Dehli make every day.
