Volunteers needed to keep Waukon Senior Dining Center open

For those who have some free time and may be looking for an opportunity to become more involved in the community, NorthLand Agency on Aging has a volunteer opportunity to make a positive difference. At the end of May, NorthLand  will need three to four people willing to share the responsibilities of coordinating the meals program at the Waukon Senior Dining Center, which is located within the Waukon Wellness Center.
The co-coordinators would work together to provide administrative and meal services to both the congregate and home-delivered meals programs, which operate Monday through Friday each week.  “With several people helping out, it allows flexibility in scheduling so no single person is tied up over extended periods,” says NorthLand Nutrition Director Betty Ransom.
Ransom further explains, “We hope several folks will be willing to commit approximately three hours/day, five days a week, every four weeks (on a rotating basis). We are confident that such a cycle works, because it has been successful in other communities. Volunteer commitment is the key to success."
Without volunteers, the congregate meals program is in jeopardy of closing, according to Ransom. Those interested in helping provide this important service and in learning  more specifics about this volunteer opportunity should call Betty Ransom at 1-800-233-4603 or 563-382-2941, or e-mail betty@northlandaging.com.
