Dora Torres-Walleser

Dora Alicia Torres-Walleser (Torres Villatoro), 47, of Lansing passed away October 10, 2012 at her home. A Funeral Mass was held at Immaculate Conception Church Saturday, October 13. Following memorial services, inurnment took place at Gethsemane Cemetery in Lansing.
Dora was born May 1, 1965 in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas, Mexico; the daughter of Arturo Torres Ventura and Amelia Villatoro de Torres. In 1982 she graduated from high school in her hometown. She then came to Lansing as a foreign exchange student and graduated with the Kee High School Class of 1983. In 1989 she earned a degree of Foreign Languages  at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. In 1996 she earned a Bachelor Degree of Arts from Upper Iowa University.
December 27, 1991 she married Fred Walleser in her hometown, and then moved to Lansing. Dora taught Spanish at high schools in Decorah, Waukon and Lansing, as well as at Virterbo University in La Crosse, WI. She was also a Spanish interpreter and translator for the surrounding area through her Spanish Connection venture.
Once Dora became a mother, she devoted most of her time to raising her family. She enjoyed watching her children grow and cheering them on at all of their activities. Dora was a faithful caring wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was an inspiration to all those who knew her and served as an example of courage and determination during her five-year battle with colon cancer. Dora was a beloved member of her hometown communities here in the United States and in Mexico.
Dora is survived by her husband, Fred Walleser, and their children, Natasha, Ethan and Michelle, all of Lansing; her brother and sisters, Luis A. Torres Villatoro, Ana Meli Torres Villatoro and Betty Walleser (Torres Villatoro), and their children. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael John; her parents; her grandparents; and other loved family members.
May Dora’s spirit live within us every day of our lives. Amen.
