VMH Health Care Foundation's Christmas Fantasy to feature record number of silent auction items

Christmas Fantasy 2009 to be held this weekend ... The VMH Health Care Foundation’s Christmas Fantasy 2009 will be held this weekend, November 13, 14, 15 and 16 at the Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon. The Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation’s Christmas Fantasy 2009 will be held Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, November 13, 14, 15 and 16 at the Fairgrounds Pavilion in Waukon. This year’s event will mark another breathtaking display of uniquely decorated Christmas trees, plus offer a great Christmas shopping opportunity, thanks to all of the gift baskets, centerpieces and decorations donated to the event.

A record number of items have been donated to the silent auction this year. Over 70 silent auction items will be on display and will include centerpieces and gift baskets of all kinds in addition to the popular mini-trees, door decorations, antique chairs and many other items. This will make the Fantasy a great holiday shopping opportunity for anyone, with the silent auction bids ending at 7 p.m. Monday night. Until that closing time, bidders can return, free of charge, to the Fantasy to change their bids. Fantasy Events
Special events at the 18th Annual Christmas Fantasy will include the “Tingle ‘N Mingle” happy hour event to be held Friday, November 13 from 5-8 p.m. The cost is $15 per person. Tickets are available at Veterans Memorial Hospital and local banks, as well as at the door. Saturday evening, a special wine, cheese and dessert event will be held, sponsored again this year by the Eagle’s Landing Winery of Marquette. Call 563-568-4177 for reservations. The cost is $10 per person, which includes refreshments, viewing of the decorations and entertainment. Two special Christmas Fantasy Catered Luncheons sponsored by the Allamakee Cattlemen’s Association will be offered Saturday, November 14 and Monday, November 16 at noon. Call 563-568-6262 to make a reservation for either of the luncheons. The cost is $10 per person. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, children will be given a special chance to see the Fantasy, plus have a visit with Santa Claus himself. Story telling by Sue Kiesau will add to the excitement. Eaton Coté of Photographic Arts will be on hand for a holiday Christmas card/picture opportunity for children with Santa Claus. These photos will be available for purchase. The Christmas Fantasy 2009 event will be open to the public Saturday, November 14, from 2-5 p.m., Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Monday from 2-7 p.m. offering entertainment from area choirs, families, schools, and piano students. Christmas treats and cider will be offered during these public showings.
