Waukon football team uses balanced offense to power past Oelwein for 56-12 District 4 road win

by Perry Hesse

While the Oelwein Huskies were celebrating Homecoming Friday night, September 24, it was strictly a business trip for the Waukon Indians, who improved to 4-1 on the season with a 56-12 victory in that Class 2A District 4 match-up. That final result yielded the Indians’ highest point total of the season behind a fairly balanced attack providing almost 400 yards of total offense. Waukon collected 224 yards through the air along with 163 more on the ground, scoring multiple times via each method.

“Passing is largely about timing and that develops with more repetitions at game speed,” said Waukon football coach Chad Beermann of his team’s aerial attack that produced an average of nearly 38 yards per reception and scored on half of just six passing attempts on the night.

COVID-19 test kits available locally ... Currently, Veterans Memorial Hospital is experiencing a very limited supply of COVID-19 testing kits and asks that anyone experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms either pick up a Test Iowa Kit, pictured above, which is available free of charge at the main reception desk at Veterans Memorial Hospital, or purchase an over the counter test kit at a local pharmacy. Submitted photo.

Currently, Veterans Memorial Hospital is experiencing a very limited supply of COVID-19 testing kits and asks that anyone experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms seek one of the following testing options:

• Test Iowa Kits are available free of charge at the main reception desk at Veterans Memorial Hospital. With these kits you collect your saliva and send the test in free of charge via UPS.  All instructions are clearly included in the kit with a phone number to call if you have any questions. There is currently just a 24 hour turn-around time for results. The Test Iowa Kits are available at the hospital from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekends and holidays.
• Over the counter test kits can be purchased at all local pharmacies. These have immediate, rapid results; however this is an unverified form of testing and no work excuses can be given based on these results.
