St. Patrick's Day Parade set for March 16

The annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Waukon has been scheduled for Sunday, March 16. The event will begin at 1 p.m. with many of the same festivities taking place as in years past throughout the community.

Epic Wear receives New Business of the Year Award

Waukon businesses recognized for years of service

Waukon Chamber of Commerce member businesses and organizations observing years in business anniversaries ending in five-year increments this year were honored at the Waukon Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet Friday, February 28. ACCB seeking information on Old Stone House north of Postville

The Allamakee County Conservation Board (ACCB) is looking for information and pictures anyone in the public may have pertaining to the Old Stone House that used to stand north of Postville on Old Hwy. 51 along the Yellow River. With the Conservation Board’s continued current development of Stonebrook Park, located across the road from where the Stone House used to stand, the Board would like to create some informational kiosks pertaining to the Old Stone House and its rich history to the area.

Secretary of Agriculture visits Waukon

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey (center in photo) visited with Sherrie and Gil Hunstad at their Waukon Greenhouse location in downtown Waukon Tuesday morning, February 18 during a trip to northeast Iowa early last week. Northey's journey to northeast Iowa also included stops in Cresco and addressing a Winneshiek County Corn Growers Ag Forum in Decorah Monday, February 17 before stopping Tuesday in Waukon and St. Olaf, as well as discussing urban conservation projects in West Union. Locally-produced "Mysteries Of The Driftless" to be shown at Oneota Film Festival Saturday

"Mysteries of the Driftless", a locally-produced documentary film funded in part by the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, is scheduled to be shown in Decorah Saturday, March 1 at 12:30 p.m. as part of the Oneota Film Festival.
