Wilma Miller

Wilma Marguerite Miller, 84, of Waukon died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Thornton Manor in Lansing. Funeral Services were held Thursday, January 22 at the United Methodist Church, Lansing, with Rev. Kevin Smith as the Officiant. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing.
Wilma was born March 28, 1930 to Ervin M. and Cora L. (Goeke) Phipps in Waukon. She grew up in the family of Art, Ferne and William “Bill” Wendel of Lansing. She was baptized at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, which later became the United Methodist Church in Lansing. She graduated from Lansing Public School in 1947.
Wilma was united in marriage with Lloyd H. “Buddy” Miller October 16, 1971 in Lansing. She worked as a housekeeper for homes and businesses in Lansing. Wilma enjoyed traveling, word puzzles, having “coffee” with her friends and spending time with her pet cat, “Miss Muffet.” She loved children and would easily become one of their best friends. She and Buddy were godparents to Lauren Stone. Most of all, Wilma loved spending time with all of her relatives.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd H. “Buddy” Miller of Waukon; one sister, Lorna Skicki of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and three brothers, Howard Phipps of Goshen, OH, Vernon (Mickey) Phipps of Romeoville, IL and Merton (Darlene Klein) Phipps of Waukon.
She was preceded in death by her parents and seven sisters, Leota Snitker, Ruby Rand, Iva Mason, Mae Greene, Betty Marti, Edith Marti and Norma Phipps.
