Kee High School Speech has trio chosen for All-State Festival

Three individuals from the Kee High School Speech team were selected for the All-State Speech Festival to be held April 4 at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls after competing with students from nearly 100 other Iowa high schools at the State Individual Speech Contest in Dubuque March 12. Left to right in the top photos, MaKayla Manning was chosen for her Literary Program, Tom Martin was selected for improvisational acting, and Ethan Walleser was also chosen for improvisational acting. "These students will be showcased at the festival as the best Iowa student speakers in their event," Kee High School Speech Coach Tammy Manning said. "We are so excited, it has been a few years since we had individual members selected."
That trio was just part of the 13 Kee events competing at that State Contest, with 11 of those events having received "one" ratings - including eight perfect "one" ratings, and two others receiving "two" ratings. In the bottom picture are the seven Kee High School Individual Speech Team members who competed at State Contest after advancing out of the District Contest held February 27 at Delhi: Left to right - Front row: Annika Stahl (Literary 1 and Prose 1), Aubreanna McQuade (Poetry 2), Emily Benzing (Storytelling 1 and Acting 1), MaKayla Manning (Literary 1 and Expository 1); Back row: Jake Clauson (Prose 1 and Improv. 2), Tom Martin (Radio 1 and Improv. 1), Ethan Walleser (Acting 1 and Improv. 1).
