Return trip to NEIBA Honor Band...

Saturday, January 7, Waukon High School senior band member Adam Gruman (pictured at right in photo at right) participated in the Northeast Iowa Bandmasters Association (NEIBA) District Honor Jazz Band Festival at Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids with 20 of the best high school jazz musicians in northeast Iowa. The band was directed by Myron Peterson (pictured at left in photo at right), president-elect of the Iowa Bandmasters organization and director of bands at Urbandale High school.  The students rehearsed throughout the day and presented a concert that evening.

"This is Adam's second year of participating in this event. It has been a great opportunity for him. He has had the opportunity to work with two of the best jazz educators in Iowa. This is a very select group of students from northeast Iowa, so it's been a privilege for Adam to have gotten the opportunity to participate," stated Jo Ann Knipfer Sherman, director of bands at Waukon High School. The Waukon High School Band will feature its jazz band at the POPS concert February 25. Submitted photo.
