EACSD Board of Directors approves fee schedule for 2017-2018 school year, hires Lynn Winters as varsity volleyball coach

The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of the Eastern Allamakee Community School District (EACSD)was held Monday, June 19. Board members Melanie Mauss and Kelli Mudderman were not present at the meeting.

The board approved the following food service and registration fees for the 2017-2018 school year:

Breakfast - PK-6 Students: $1.75; Grades 7-12 Students; $1.75; Adults: $2.25
Lunch - PK-6 Students: $2.55; Grades 7-12 Students: $2.65;  Adults: $3.55
Extra milk - PK-6 Students: $0.55; Grades 7-12 Students: $0.55
Book fees - PK-6 Students: $45; Grades 7-12 Students: $55
Activity Ticket - PK-6 Students: $45; Grades 7-12 Students: $45;  Adults: $65
Drivers Education - $260.

The following approvals were all passed by the board:

1. Eastern Allamakee Meal Charge Administrative Procedure/Policy as presented.
2. Revision of Board Policy 102.R1 - Grievance Procedure.
3. Resolution for Payment of Safety Equipment from General Fund for the fiscal year 2017. For 2017, the general fund transferred $0 to the Activity Fund for safety equipment.
4. Change in dental insurance carriers from Met Life to Delta Dental. This change will be effective July 1, 2017.
5. The low LP gasoline bid from Fauser Oil for 0.9460 cents per gallon. The other bids were AgVantage FS at .970 cents per gallon, Farmer’s Union Coop at 1.0129 per gallon and Amerigas at 1.18 per gallon. The board was informed of Fauser Oil Company’s recent filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and their plans to continue all operations as they currently exist now.
6. The 28E Agreement with Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) for offering concurrent courses for the 2017-18 school year.
7. The overnight trip to Waterloo for the Kee varsity softball team, which was scheduled to be participating in the Don Bosco Softball Tournament June 30-31. Costs for transportation and the coaches’ hotel rooms will be covered by the district.

Employment contracts also receiving approval included a contract change for Arla Wagner to MA+15, as well as a contract with Lynn Winters for the position of head varsity volleyball coach and a contract with Alivia Winters for the position of assistant volleyball coach. The board also authorized the issuance of milk and bread bids for the 2017-2018 school year and  payment of bills through June 30, 2017.

EACSD Superintendent Dr. Dale Crozier was scheduled to attend the Keystone Premier Education Conference (KPEC) in Dubuque later that same week of the meeting. Kee High School Principal Mary Hogan will also be attending, along with several other staff members.
