Clark Snitker

Clark L. Snitker, 62, of Oelwein died suddenly Sunday evening, July 16, 2017 at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters in Oelwein. Funeral Service was held Friday, July 21 at the Aurora United Methodist Church in Aurora with Pastor Wayne Mullen officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.

Clark Lee Snitker was born August 30, 1954 in Waukon, the son of Richard and Harriet (Hanson) Snitker.  He graduated from Waukon High School in the Class of 1972. Clark worked at Cod Brandt’s gas station and Blocker Milling Service, both in Waukon. He moved to Oelwein in 1979 and began work at the Aurora Elevator.  He later moved to Aurora, where he lived for many years. Clark entered into partnership in purchasing the Aurora Elevator with Dave Young in 1992.

Clark was married to Sheri Fasig August 19, 2016 at Backbone State Park near Strawberry Point. They made their home in Oelwein. Clark liked to gamble at casinos, attend Iowa Hawkeye games and watch John Wayne movies. He loved his family and he especially loved being a grandfather and attending his grandchildren’s activities.

Clark is survived by the love of his life, Sheri Snitker of Oelwein; five daughters:  Jodi (Aron) Liebe of Sargent Bluff, Jamie Snitker of San Jose, CA, Jaide Snitker of Marion, Meghanne (Kushan) Edussuriya of San Antonio, TX Morghanne Teel of San Antonio, TX; a son, Mitch (Krissy) Teel of LeMars; 11 grandchildren, Blake and Emilee Liebe, Trevor, Nolan, Mya and Gia Teel, Kenzo Snitker, Micah Snitker, and Rishan, Elias and Rowyn Edussuriya; his mother, Harriet Snitker of Waukon; his brother, Al Snitker of Waukon; four sisters: Judy (Fred) Meierkord of Ames, Deb (Wayne) Rissman of Waukon, Carol (Dennis Gulland) Snitker of Rosemont, MN and Shawn (Jim) Hodina of Cedar Rapids; his mother-in-law, Barb Dopp of Oelwein; two brothers-in-law, Dave (Kim) Dopp of Oelwein and Randel (Michelle) Dopp of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Lori (Jamie) Kemp of Billings, MT; many nieces and nephews and their beloved Golden Retriever, Murphy. Clark was preceded in death by his father, Richard Snitker, in 1982; and his father-in-law, Delwyn Dopp, in 2011.
