Waukon boys basketball team splits pair of contests, comes up just short at Prairie du Chien, 66-62, but wins at Oelwein, 65-47

The Waukon boys basketball team split its pair of games this past week, falling to another non-conference opponent but continuing to hold its third-place position in the Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) standings with another victory in league play. The Indians opened the week having a strong comeback effort fall short, 66-62, at Prairie du Chien, WI Tuesday, January 16 before bouncing back with a 65-47 victory at Oelwein Friday, January 19.

The week’s split leaves the Indians’ season record at 9-4 overall, including a Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) mark of 5-2 that leaves the Tribe firmly in third place in the latest NEIC standings. The basketball Indians were scheduled for a busy week at home this week, hosting Spring Grove, MN Monday, January 22 (that game now being postponed to Monday, January 29 due to winter weather) and Crestwood Tuesday, January 23 before doing likewise with Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, January 26. The Indians will then make up that January 22 home postponement with Spring Grove Monday, January 29 before playing at MFL/MarMac Tuesday, January 30 and then hosting NEIC undefeated Charles City Friday, February 2.
