Roger Hammell

Roger John Hammell, age 58, of Lansing passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. He will be missed by many.

Roger was born April 3, 1959 in La Crosse, WI to Raymond and Margaret (Troendle) Hammell. He was a lifelong resident of Lansing, where he graduated high school in 1977. He went on to become a graduated Boilermaker apprentice. Roger worked for Boilermakers Union Local 83 out of Kansas City, MO for 34 years, serving on the Board of Trustees for nine years.

Roger was united in marriage with Cindy Bulman July 18, 1987. He enjoyed many hobbies, including hunting, fishing, canoeing, camping, gardening and spending time with his family.

Roger is survived by his wife, Cindy; his daughters, Laura (Jason Swenson) Hammell of Waukon and Lacey (Josh) Diehl of Dubuque; his son, Shane (Charlie Strange) Hagensick of Monona and four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Hannah Swenson and Nash and Knox Diehl, whom he loved dearly. Roger is also survived by his mother, Margaret (Marge) Halverson; his siblings, Kenneth (Hazel) Hammell, Carolyn (Steve) Thorsten, Dorothy Schwartzhoff, Shirley (Mike) Fink, Kay Colvin, Mark (Renee) Hammell, Mary (Craig) Sand, Elizabeth (Tim) Fish and Jerry (Deb) Hammell; a sister-in-law, Margaret Hammell; his step-brothers and sisters, Lois, Dan, Dave, Shari and Ron Larson and Carl May, and their spouses; his in-laws, Gary and Alice, Gary Greg (Jill) and Clark Bulman; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond; his step-mother, Judy; his step-father, Wendle Halverson; his brother, Cornelius; his sister, Virginia; his sister-in-law, Kim Bulman; his brothers-in-law, Tom Schwartzhoff, Bill Erickson, Joe Colvin and Vern Kukes; his step-brother, Stan Larson; and his step-sister, June Livingood.
