Emergency warning sirens to be tested in Waukon this Thursday; Postponed tornado drills to also be held that day

The Allamakee County Emergency Management Agency, along with local emergency response authorities, want residents of Waukon to be aware that emergency warning sirens in Waukon will be tested the first Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. This Thursday, April 5 will be the next of those scheduled test days, and Waukon residents can expect to hear the local emergency warning sirens activated at approximately 10 a.m.

In conjunction with that April 5 testing, the Allamakee County Courthouse and Allamakee Community School District centers in Waukon will also be conducting their respective tornado drill scenarios that day. Typically held in conjunction with the statewide tornado drill - which took place last Wednesday, March 28 throughout Iowa and was originally intended to be participated in locally (as published in previous issues of The Standard), those local tornado drills were postponed to this Thursday, April 5 by local emergency response authorities in consideration of the unavoidable absence of one local authority that day, the final week of property tax payment business being conducted in the Allamakee County Courthouse and the discovery of one local emergency warning siren not being fully operational.
