Larry Schellhammer of rural Lansing is announcing his candidacy for the Allamakee County Board of Supervisors. Schellhammer is seeking re-election to the Board of Supervisors, on which he has served since 2010.

He and his wife, Cindy, have two adult children, John of rural Lansing and Leah of Cedar Falls. Schellhammer has been a dairy farmer in Allamakee County since 1977 and is currently in a farming partnership with his son, John. He is a member of Iron Ridge Church in Waukon, where he is part of the Worship and Leadership Teams.

“The responsibilities of a Supervisor go far beyond county borders. We are appointed to serve on a variety of boards and commissions which impact not only Allamakee County, but also northeast Iowa,” Schellhammer said. Those boards and/or commissions he is currently serving on include the First Judicial District Department of Corrections, Northeast Iowa Juvenile Detention, Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission, Transportation Policy Board, Allamakee County Economic Development and Northeast Iowa Regional Housing Trust Fund.

“It is my goal to keep the Board of Supervisors accessible and accountable to the taxpayers of Allamakee County, to provide common sense and logic when dealing with the challenges of an ever-changing government. It would be an honor to continue to serve the people of Allamakee County,” he shared.
