Noraline Lamborn

Noraline Milda Lydia Lamborn, age 95, of Monona passed away July 28, 2018 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon following a brief illness. Funeral Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, August 1 at Living Faith United Methodist Parish, Monona with Rev. Deb Parkison as the Officiant. Burial will follow at Luana Cemetery, Luana. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 31 from 5-7 p.m. at Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona and one hour before services at the church Wednesday.

Noraline M. L. Borcherding was born February 26, 1923 in Osterdock, the daughter of Gustav and Mabel (Lundt) Borcherding. She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg April 29, 1923, confirmed at Highland Lutheran Church in Elkader December 18, 1938 and attended rural Clayton County Schools. Following her schooling, she worked as a housekeeper for rural area families. She also worked at the Battery Factory in Dubuque before marrying Lloyd V. Lamborn.

December 27, 1944, she married Lloyd V. Lamborn at the Evangelical United Brethren parsonage in Monona. They rented a farm north of Luana from Doc Kettelkamp to start their farming career. In 1951, they bought their first farm on Hickory Creek. In 1963, they added their next farm, the Lamborn Family Farm, originally established in 1857, north of Luana.

They attended the Luana Methodist Church until it closed. They then joined the Garden City United Methodist Church now known as the Living Faith United Methodist Parish in Monona, where Noraline was a member of the United Methodist Women. They retired from farming and moved to their house in Monona in 2001.

Lloyd and Noraline were both members of the Merry Mixers Square Dance Club and Round Dance Club.  They also enjoyed their various card clubs. Noraline was a member of the Garden City Garden Club in Monona for several years, participating in their annual flower shows and also taking flower arrangements to the Allamakee County Fair. She received numerous awards for her arrangements. Noraline was also a member of the Franklin Homemakers Club, gathering monthly in one of the members’ homes.

After Lloyd’s death in December 2006, Noraline continued living in their house in Monona until moving to Garden View Senior Living in May 2016. Noraline enjoyed spending time with family, attending her grand- and great-grandchildren’s events, cooking, baking and gardening. Noraline was loved dearly and will be missed greatly.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Dean) Bernhard of Monona; her son, Larry (Jane) Lamborn of Luana; her daughter, Nola Gail of Estes Park, CO; her daughter, Noreen (Scott) Johnson of New Holstein, WI and her daughter, Rita (Eric) Goettler of Central City; 13 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Ruth Borcherding of Waukon; several nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; her granddaughter-in-law, Terri Miller; her sister, Anita Brainard; four brothers, Arthur and infants Lavern, Virgil and Gus Roy Borcherding; and a nephew, Jim Brainard.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Brian J. Miller, Brent Miller, Alan Lamborn, Mark Lamborn, Matt Quandahl and Andrew Goettler. Honorary pallbearers include all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
