Marilyn Geuder

Marilyn Herman Geuder passed away July 30, 2018 in Longwood, FL at the age of 89. Marilyn was born on the family farm outside of Waukon to Rollie and Alma Herman in March of 1929. She graduated from Waukon High School in 1947.

In 1948, she married Vernon Geuder at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon. They lived in Waukon, Ossian and Monona before moving to Virginia in 1960. They were married for 70 years, raising their six children with unconditional love and devotion, and were their role models, examples of a loving marriage and lives well lived. In 2002, they moved to Florida, where Vernon, 95, the love of her life, her soulmate, best friend and partner in all things, still resides.

Marilyn also leaves behind to cherish her memory their six children: Glen (Lynn) Geuder of Pawley’s Island, SC, Jeanne (Jimmy) Crist of Stafford, VA, Jeff (Patty) Geuder of Longwood, FL, Susan Braun of Cary, NC, Nancy (Bob) Butts of Jacksonville, FL and Jay (Mindy) Geuder of Jacksonville, FL. She is  also survived by 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, whom she adored. Also surviving her are her two sisters, Norma Jeanne Brown of Ballwin, MO and Lorraine Bergquist of St. Louis Park, MN; and 21 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and her brothers, Ronald, Eugene and Harlan.

It was written of her, “Some  people seem to walk through daily life with a smile and a gentle word for everyone. Everywhere they go, they leave a little warmth, a little happiness. Marilyn is one of those special people.” She certainly was one of those special people, a decent, kind and loving lady who lived her long life with grace and dignity. She will be missed by all who knew her.
