Waukon boys track team places third at Decorah Invitational, rises to second place at own Indian Relays home invitational


High flyer finishes no lower than second ... Waukon boys track junior Brock Hatlan soars through the air to a second-place long jump leap of 19’5.5” at the Tribe’s own Indian Relays home invitational Thursday, April 18. Hatlan finished no lower than second place in any of his four events at the meet, also finishing second in the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.51 seconds and winning the 200 meter dash in 23.55 seconds while also leading off the Indians’ 4x400 relay crew that won in a clocking of 3:44.26 and also included sophomores Brady Behrend and Creed Welch and freshman Braxton Stewart. The Waukon boys track team got both of its meets in this past week, finishing in the top three in each of them. The track Tribe placed third as a team at the Decorah Invitational Monday, April 15 before improving to second place at their own Indian Relays home invitational meet Thursday, April 18.

The track Tribe was next scheduled to compete Monday, April 22 at the Oelwein Invitational for its only meet of this week, but had that meet canceled due to stormy weather. The Indians will then take part in another Monday meet April 29 at New Hampton before competing in the Northeast Iowa Conference Meet at Crestwood Thursday, May 2.
