Richard Henry Marti was born February 12, 1940 at a downtown doctor’s office in Waukon. His parents were Albert Herman and Ellen Luella (Christianson) Marti. Richard was baptized and confirmed at Waterville Lutheran Church and attended Jefferson #7 rural school. Like their father, Richard and his twin brother, Robert, were farmers through and through and worked right into the family farming operation which included dairy, beef cattle, hogs and crops.

September 29, 1963, Richard married Annabelle Decker at the Waterville Lutheran Church. They soon bought a farm of their own very near the home place. Richard was happiest when he could be outdoors working the land or tending his livestock. He loved the farming life and was happy to get to work side by side with his twin brother and best friend, Robert. He also had a special relationship with his grandchildren and truly enjoyed the time he spent with them.

Survivors include his wife, Annabelle; two sons, Richard E. and Albert L., all of Waukon; his brother, Robert, of Luana; and seven grandchildren: Alex of Iowa City, Gabby of Ames, and Madelyn, Marin, Olivia, John and Cora, all at home. He was preceded in death by his parents.
