Waukon wrestling team wins two of six duals during busy weekend on the mat

The Waukon wrestling team battled through a busy weekend of competition this past week with back-to-back days on the mat being its only competition for the week. Those consecutive days of competition included wrapping up the mat Tribe’s Northeast Iowa Conference dual meet season without a win after a 72-9 defeat at Charles City Friday, January 24 before the Indians took part in the Riceville Tournament Saturday, January 25, winning two of their five duals wrestled in that duals tournament event.

The mat Tribe currently holds a 3-14 overall dual meet record that includes a winless mark in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) competition for the season. The Indians are next scheduled to compete in their final dual event of the season, hosting Clayton Ridge, Postville and MFL/MarMac Thursday, January 30 before competing in the annual Northeast Iowa Conference Tournament Saturday, February 1 at Crestwood High School in Cresco. The wrestling Indians will then prepare for their Class 2A Sectional Tournament at Decorah Saturday, February 8.
