Paula Hitchcock

Paula Lynn Hitchcock, 61, of Waukon passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon surrounded by family and friends. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 13 at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, with Pastor Grant VanderVelden officiating and a luncheon to be served following the service. Burial will be held at a later date.

Paula was born March 6, 1958 to Robert and Ellen (Duve) Hitchcock in Dubuque. She married the love of her life, Gregg (Lizzard) Klein, February 13, 2004. Through that marriage, six children were united.

Paula worked at Northern Engraving in Waukon for a couple of years and bartended most of her life at the local watering holes better known as Dar’s Place, 22 Spring Ave, Brenda’s, City Club and many more.

Paula loved collecting her knickknacks, gardening and rocking. She had a love for music including Neil Young, Switchback, Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and John Prine. She also played the spoons for Joe and Vicki Price.

Anyone that has known Paula knew she had a great sense of humor and got along with everyone until you pissed her off. She treasured her family and friends and loved to spend time with them as much as she could. She was one of the hardest workers we knew and it was a joy to know her and be around her. She was loved by everyone.

Paula is survived by her husband, Gregg (Lizzard) Klein; her children, Shane (Kim Pearson) Hagensick, Troy (Kristie) Hagensick, Jesse (Amanda Wright) Hitchcock, Nathan (Toni) Klein, LaNay Klein and Jewel (Patrick Stone Jr.) Klein; and 15 grandchildren, Tristan Behn, Tyson Hagensick, Xavier Limon, Brittanie Lightfoot, Breanna (Barry) Nobles, James Lightfoot, Kaydyn and Jordyn Hagensick, Katie and Keaton Hitchcock, Gary and Leonard Klein, Candyce Klein, Tamari Lessard, and soon to be arriving Parker Stone. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren; her brother, Gene Hitchcock; her sister, Pamela Hitchcock; her father-in-law, Gary Klein; her mother-in-law, Darlene (Mert) Klein; her sister-in-law, Machelle (Jerry) Bulman; her sister-in-law, Dawn Peterson; her brother-in-law, Gary Klein Jr.; her best friend, Brenda A’Hearn; and many nieces and nephews.

Paula is preceded in death by her parents, Ellen and Robert Hitchcock; her brother, Steven Hitchcock; and a great-grandson, Landon Lightfoot.
