Waukon bowling teams sweep Oelwein, awarded East Division titles and individual All-Conference honors at North Central Conference Tournament

The Waukon bowling teams wrapped up their regular season schedules this past week with both dual meet and tournament action. The bowling Indians first completed their dual meet season with a sweep of Oelwein at home Monday, February 10 in a meet rescheduled from January 24, the Waukon girls winning by a 1923-762 result and the Indian boys completing the sweep with a 2794-2660 victory. Each team also sent two bowlers to compete in the North Central Bowling Conference individual tournament Saturday, February 15 at Charles City, with the Waukon girls junior pair of Madi Palmer and Taylor Peterson each bowling to Second Team All-Conference honors and the Waukon boys senior pair of Matt Rozzell and Nathan Liddiard bringing home First Team and Second Team All-Conference accolades, respectively.

The Waukon boys finished out their dual meet season with an 8-1 record, while the Waukon girls wrapped up a 4-5 season mark, with each of those marks containing conference division records that earned the bowling Indians East Division North Central Bowling Conference season championships. The Waukon boys completed a sweep of all five of their East Division North Central Bowling Conference opponents for an outright undefeated championship record of 5-0. The Waukon girls finished with a 4-1 record against East Division opponents, tying for championship honors with both Sumner-Fredericksburg and Waterloo Columbus in sharing that same East Division record.

The Tribe was next scheduled to bowl in its district tournament at Dubuque Tuesday, February 18 to determine qualification for this year’s State Tournament.
