Signe Buege

Signe C. Buege, 60, of rural Lansing passed away at her home Sunday, February 23, 2020 surrounded by her family. Funeral services were held Saturday, February 29 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Pastor Matthew Majewski officiating. Burial was at Center Baptist Cemetery, rural Lansing. Signe Christine Buege was born January 20, 1960 in Waukon, the daughter of Donald and Lois (Anderson) Aldrich. She was baptized at Center Baptist Church in rural Lansing. In 1978, Signe graduated from Waukon High School and later earned her LPN and RN at NICC. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Dubuque in 1996. May 2, 1981, she married Daniel Buege at Center Baptist Church.

As a registered nurse, she worked in many different roles and found her passion in caring for the elderly. Signe worked for several years at the Waukon Good Samaritan Center and Thornton Manor in Lansing. She also possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and throughout the years owned and operated her own bait shop, a garden center, Our Tara Inn and Tara Erosion Control.

She loved to travel and made many trips throughout the United States and abroad including: France, the United Kingdom, Egypt, India, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Panama and Guatemala. Signe took several mission trips as well to Laos, Thailand and Cambodia. She enjoyed classic cars, especially her 1955 Chevy and 1960 Nash Metropolitan. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Sigma Theta Tau. Signe will be remembered as a terrific wife and loving mother.

Signe is survived by her husband, Dan, of Lansing; her children: Kari Hannah (Ryan) Smith of Lansing, Debbie Jo Harris of Wausau, WI and Darren Justin (Trista) Buege of Waukon; her grandchildren: Roslin, Ewan and Liam Smith, Hailey, Adelyn and Cash Harris, Sterling and Ryker Buege, and Oliver Hampton; her father, Don Aldrich of Waukon; her sister, Elizabeth (Richard) Seibert of Waukon; and her brother, Nathan Aldrich of Lansing. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her mother, Lois Aldrich; her stepdaughter, Jennifer Buege; and her mother- and father-in-law, Dorothy and Bill Buege.

Honorary casketbearers were her grandchildren. Casketbearers were Darren Buege, Jonathan and Josh Aldrich, Sean Regan, Ben Kerndt and Dennis Troendle. Online condolences may be left at www.martinfunerals.com.
