Lora Frana
Lora Marie McCormick Frana, 58, of Luck, WI died peacefully at her home Thursday, May 14, 2020. Due to COVID-19 precautions, private, immediate-family graveside services will be held Saturday, May 30 at St. Mary’s Hanover Cemetery in rural Waukon with Fr. Mark Osterhaus officiating.
Lora was born May 24, 1961 in Waukon, daughter of James and Theresa (Schwartzhoff) McCormick. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Hanover Catholic Church in rural Waukon. She graduated from Waukon High School in 1979 and attended Northeast Iowa Community College in Calmar. She graduated from NICC and became a Registered Nurse (RN).
July 27, 1985, Lora married Ron Frana at St. Mary’s Hanover Catholic Church. She worked as an RN in St. Paul, MN for many years. In 2017 she moved to Luck, WI to be closer to her children and grandsons and started her own cleaning business.
Lora enjoyed knitting, reading, bible study and faith sharing, and her dog, Romeo. She treasured time with her friends and family, especially her sons and grandsons. Lora was an active member of St. Patrick’s CEW Community. She loved to share her faith with others. Lora’s faith permeated everything she did. She was always an encouraging person and reminded others of the love Jesus has for all.
Survivors include her children: Brian (Kelly) Kelly of Ham Lake, MN and John (Tawnnia) Kelly of St. Croix Falls, WI; her grandsons, Liam and Owen Kelly, also of St. Croix Falls; her father and stepmother, Jim and Karen McCormick of Waukon; her brother, Kevin McCormick of Waukon; her sisters: Carrie Beneke of Waverly, Julie (Tom) Christensen of Lansing and Mary (Joe) Kobliska of Waverly; her step-siblings: Tom (Kathy) Booher of Urbana, Dan (Jessie) Booher of Anamosa, Rick (Cammie) Booher of Marion, Rob Booher of Marion, Cindy (Larry) Foster of Castalia, Susie (Buddy) Reynolds of Marion, Julie (Jeff) Reid of Boerne, TX, Penny (Clint) Koerperich of Marion and Laurie (Jon) Stribling of Cedar Rapids; two sisters-in-law: Marge Taylor of Holmen, WI and Julie Frana of Maple Grove, MN; four brothers-in-law: Gene Frana of Ridgeway, Tony Frana of Ridgeway, Jeff (Karen) Frana of Shakopee, MN and Bruce (Kelli) Frana of Festus, MO; many nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins; and several dear friends.
Lora is preceded in death by her husband, Ron, May 13, 1994; her mother, Theresa; her mother- and father-in-law, Wilma and Ermin Frana; her step-siblings, Jane Reynolds and Jim Bob Booher; her brothers-in-law, Brian Frana and Allen Frana; and her dog, Murphy.
Condolences may be sent to Lora’s dad, Jim McCormick, at 1961 Sandpiper Rd, Waukon, IA 52172. Cards and memorials will be shared with Lora’s sons.
