The 29th annual Christmas Fantasy, sponsored each year by the Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation, is holding a Silent Auction event only this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.  The “Big C” Silent Auction is open and ready for bidding within many local businesses in Waukon, all in an effort to promote “shopping locally” this holiday season. These auction items will not only offer a variety of Christmas gifts for sale locally, but encourage shoppers to do more local holiday shopping in safe settings, hopefully decreasing the amount of out-of-town shopping and creating more local store traffic, helping the local businesses.

Silent Auction items can now be found at the following locations:  Cunningham Hardware, Epic Wear, Hartig Drug, Howards Home Furnishings, Krambeer Barber Shop/Hair Body & Mind Salon and Day Spa, Say Now!, Teslow’s Formal Wear, Upper Iowa Insurance, Waukon Chamber of Commerce and Allamakee Economic Development, Waukon State Bank and WW Homestead Dairy. All bidding will cease at the close of the business day at these locations Monday, December 7. Shoppers are invited to stop back at these businesses and increase their bids anytime over the course of those two weeks.

Silent Auction rules are posted at each location. First and foremost, all shoppers are asked to wear a mask at all times upon entering these businesses. They are also asked to use the hand sanitizer provided before they bid and again following. Also, all bids must be placed in person. Bids cannot be taken over the phone by calling the business location, but again bidders are welcome to stop back in person to increase their bids.

All of these silent auction displays can be found at www.veteransmemorialhospital.com and on the Veterans Memorial Hospital Facebook page. The details for each display as well as the hours these businesses are open for bidding is all provided.
