Waukon and Kee boys basketball teams take to the court against each other following the holiday break; Waukon fires away to 88-42 victory

The Waukon and Kee boys basketball teams got the new year off to an early competition start when the Indians traveled to the home of the Hawks Saturday, January 2 for a non-conference match-up to start the 2021 portions of their respective schedules. Although the host Hawks had the leading scorer in the contest, with junior Dalton Dibert pouring in 23 points, the Indians had five players finish in double figures and nine players score overall on the way to an 88-42 win over Kee.

Now holding a 4-3 overall record, including a 2-2 mark in Northeast Iowa Conference play, the Waukon basketball boys were next scheduled to play at Decorah Tuesday, January 5 in a game moved up from its original February 2 date to accommodate a recent shake-up in the Vikings’ schedule. Decorah was supposed to play Crestwood that night, but the Cadets are dealing with a COVID-19 situation that has suspended their competition schedule coming out of the holiday break. The Indians will then host New Hampton Friday, January 8 before remaining at home to start next week, hosting North Fayette Valley Monday, January 11 and Crestwood Tuesday, January 12. They will then finish next week playing at Oelwein Friday, January 15.

Now holding a 4-5 season record that includes a mark of 3-3 in the Upper Iowa Conference, the Kee basketball boys are next scheduled to play at South Winneshiek Tuesday, January 5 before hosting West Central Friday, January 8. The Hawks will then remain idle for a week before playing at Central Elkader Friday, January 15.
