Returning from the holiday break to add a first win of 2021 to a three-game win streak, the Waukon basketball team followed that weekend win with a split of its two games this past week, both against Northeast Iowa Conference opponents. The Indians opened this past week with a 53-47 loss at Decorah Tuesday, January 5 to end up with a season split against the Vikings but then bounced back with an 80-54 home win over New Hampton Friday, January 8.
Now holding a 5-4 overall record, including a 3-3 mark in Northeast Iowa Conference play, the Waukon basketball boys were next scheduled to host North Fayette Valley Monday, January 11 and Crestwood Tuesday, January 12 before playing at Oelwein Friday, January 15. The Indians will then not play again until traveling to MFL/MarMac Thursday, January 21 and then hosting Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, January 22. A Saturday, January 23 non-conference date with Dyersville Beckman at Upper Iowa University in Fayette had initially been called off due to a scheduling conflict at the college but is now being played at Beckman High School in Dyersville.
