St. Patrick School to host Mardi Gras in a bit different format this year

St. Patrick School’s annual Mardi Gras event will have a little different look this year due to current COVID-19 mitigation regulations, but event organizers and the school’s students and staff invite anyone and everyone to participate as much as they can in their annual fundraiser.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, January 30 and involves many of the same aspects of previous Mardi Gras celebrations, but in a bit different format.

A carry-out meal catered by BE Catered of Waukon will be available from 4-7 p.m., with both an adult meal and a smaller kids meal being available for carry-out only from the St. Patrick Church basement. Meals are only available through ticket purchases in advance of the event so that plans for the meal can be handled accordingly.

Those meal tickets may be purchased from any committee member or from the St. Patrick School Office through January 25. The menu for the adult meal includes meatballs, chicken breast w/herb & garlic dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, glazed carrots, broccoli salad, dinner roll and cheesecake. The kids meals will consist of a walking taco, fresh fruit and a homemade cookie.

The auction event will be held in online format for the bidding process, which opens January 20 and will begin closing at 7:30 p.m. the night of the Mardi Gras celebration, January 30. Auction items can be viewed in person Friday, January 29 from 3-6 p.m. and Saturday, January 30 from 9-11 a.m. in the St. Patrick School upper building gymnasium. Bids can be placed via the online link at the St. Patrick School website,, beginning Wednesday, January 20. Winning bidders can pick up their items Sunday, January 31 from 9 a.m.-12 noon at the St. Patrick School gym.

This year’s event will also include a raffle for students to earn SCRIP or Tuition Credit. Tickets can be purchased from any St. Patrick School family, and this year’s prizes will include one $500 Winner, two $250 winners and five $100 winners.

Additional details can be found online at or on the St. Patrick School Facebook page. For any additional information about this year’s St. Patrick School Mardi Gras event, contact Committee Chair Amy McCormick at 563-419-9336.
