Waukon wrestling team splits four battles at MFL/MarMac Duals, finishes in sixth place at Northeast Iowa Conference Tournament

The Waukon wrestling team had a busy latter portion week of this past week, competing in four dual meets late in the week before competing in a final weekend tournament prior to postseason competition. The Indians first competed in that four-dual event at MFL/MarMac Thursday, January 28, securing their first two dual meet victories of the season with wins over Clayton Ridge, 48-12, and over Oelwein, 45-34, but also falling to Postville, 44-30, and to the host Bulldogs, 66-9. The mat Tribe then competed in the Northeast Iowa Conference Tournament Saturday, January 30 at Decorah, finishing sixth in the final team standings while having sophomore Jakob Regan wrestle to a team-best individual runner-up finish at 120 pounds.

The wrestling Tribe is next scheduled to prepare for its Class 2A Sectional Tournament at Decorah this Saturday, February 6, beginning at 12 noon.
