The 2020-2021 season was brought to a close for the Kee girls basketball team Tuesday, February 16 in the quarterfinal round of Class 1A Region 3 Tournament play when the Lady Hawks were dealt a 52-33 loss by East Buchanan in a game played at Central High School in Elkader. Just over a week earlier, the Kee girls had fallen to East Buchanan at home by just a 38-36 final result, but this time around the Lady Hawks were without the head coaching services of Ben Wagner due to illness and were also hobbled a bit overall by an injury suffered by junior Reagan Mudderman that slowed her to just five points in the regional ballgame from the 18 points she put up against the Buccaneers a week earlier.
The loss ends the Lady Hawks’ season with an 11-11 overall record that includes a 9-7 mark in Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) play that placed them fourth in the final nine-team UIC standings. East Buchanan went on to fall to Kee’s fellow Upper Iowa Conference squad Turkey Valley in the Region 3 semifinals by a 44-33 final result.
