North Iowa Tractor Ride travels through Allamakee County ...

Approximately 200 tractors began their two-day trek throughout Allamakee County Friday morning, July 23 for the 14th annual North Iowa Tractor Ride. The tractors gathered in the parking lot of Waukon High School (as pictured below) as they arrived Thursday afternoon, July 22 in preparation for their journeys over the next two days throughout Allamakee County. Departing in four different traveling groups at staggered times from the Waukon High School parking lot (as pictured during Friday morning’s initial departure above), the tractors’ nearly full-day Friday journey covered approximately 79 miles through the northern half of the county with stops at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church near Waterville for a morning break and Kee High School in Lansing for lunch before crossing over into the neighboring state of Wisconsin for a brief loop that took the tractors over and back across the Black Hawk Bridge at Lansing and then also venturing north into Minnesota for an afternoon break in Eitzen, MN prior to traveling back to Waukon via Lycurgus Road and Highway 9. The Saturday, July 24 ride was a bit shorter, approximately 50 miles, before participants then loaded up and traveled back home. Saturday’s route took the tractors south into Clayton County through Luana for a morning break and then to Monona before stopping in Waterville for lunch and then returning to their Waukon High School origin.
